Puffy paint

My boyfriend was looking for things to keep his 6 year entertained. I was thinking back to my daycare days and remembered puffy paint. What a simplistic yet fun time. Kids loved this, they learned without even knowing it!

First you need shaving cream, and white school glue, and food coloring.

In a bowl mix together equal parts of shaving cream and white school glue.  Then add watercolors or food coloring to color.  Stir all ingredients, adding more color if needed.

I would buy little plastic or paper plates to place the different colors on. All you do from here is hand your child(ren) construction paper and paint brushes if they want them and let their imagination go while. This is also a great project for them to use their fingers!

After the picture is complete just lay it somewhere to dry. I usually allow it to dry over night before allowing my kids to touch it. Once the paint drys it will be puffy and also feel kinda velvety.

I forgot to take pictures but will include them the next time we do this project.

We have had such fun adding scent and color to traditional puffy paint to make unique and fun works of art. The girls loved their gingerbread puffy paint from Christmas so much that I knew they would love concocting their very own pumpkin puffy paint.
